AUTHOR VISIT: ABCs of Murder (Don Bruns, Judy Clemens, C.R. Corwin & Casey Daniels)

Tonight, Don Bruns, Judy Clemens, C.R. Corwin and Casey Daniels spoke at The ABCs of Murder, a Friends of the Library program at the Wood County District Public Library. I'd met both Don and Judy before, but Casey and C.R. (actually, Rob) were new to me. The authors were introduced by FOL president, Becky Behr, and the panel-style talk was moderated by Doris Ann Norris, "retired" Kaubisch Memorial Library director and current library liaison to the Sisters (and Misters) in Crime.

My mother met me at the talk, and we sat with my friend Michael, and the youngest FOL member (also a TAB member and Volunteen), B. I didn't learn a lot of new information about the authors I was already familiar with, but it was a fun talk, all the same -- probably more geared toward die-hard fans than a "new" audience. Don, of course, brought his guitar and sang for us -- always a hit. I told him that I'd just loaded the CD from his anthology onto my new computer, last night, and he told me to use the new computer to check out the authors' collaborative blog, (along with fellow writer, Jeffrey Marks, whom I was also fortunate enough to meet at a past library event): The Little Blog of Murder. I will do that after finishing this.

Mom and I split up the purchasing of books, buying one from each author. I'm anxious to read the 4th installment in Judy's Stella Crown series, which Mom bought. It's nice to have a newly released installment from a favorite author! (Now, I just have to keep waiting for the 5th in the series, due out in May!) I'm also anxious to read the 1st in Don's new Stuff... series, which I bought. He described it as a Hardy Boys mystery for adults, hearkening back to his own roots as a young mystery reader. I'm also intrigued by C.R.'s Morgue Mama series (and bought the 1st installment). I've already read Casey's series, but bought the 1st book in paperback to add to my collection. It will be interesting to re-read after having heard her speak.
